OSI vs TCP/IP - IEEE Spectrum

OSI: The Internet That Wasn’t - IEEE Spectrum

"How TCP/IP eclipsed the Open Systems Interconnection standards
to become the global protocol for computer networking"

In early 90's, I had a chance to learn both TCP/IP and OSI.
I have learned TCP/IP for an exam at University,
and then requested a book about OSI to study on my own,
out of my own curiosity.

OSI looked "nice an clean", but TCP/IP I could play with.
It was available on any computer. So it was an easy choice...
I even wrote a textbook about TCP/IP and was teaching classes.

OSI was "open" in name, and TCP/IP has truly open nature...
