eVTOL: Kittyhawk flying vehicle discontinued => Boeing Wisk

An electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft is a variety of VTOL (vertical take-off and landing) aircraft that uses electric power to hover, take off, and land vertically.

this is an old news now, while still interesting... it was promising...

Kittyhawk, the electric aircraft moonshot backed by Larry Page, is shutting down | TechCrunch 2022

Kittyhawk, the electric aviation startup founded and led by the “godfather of self-driving cars” Sebastian Thrun and backed by Google co-founder Larry Page, is shutting down.

Kittyhawk had at least one other public project called Cora, a two-person, autonomous flying taxi that was initially revealed in 2018. Cora was spun off in late 2019 into a joint venture with Boeing. The joint venture, now named Wisk, is trying to develop and commercialize electric, self-flying air taxis. In early 2022, Boeing invested another $450 million into Wisk.

Kittyhawk: Kittyhawk has ceased operations

Kitty Hawk Heaviside (defunct)

In 2010, our team set out to explore the possibilities of electric, vertical takeoff and landing flight. Since then, we have developed multiple generations of aircraft and conducted more than 1750+ full-scale test flights.

In 2023, Wisk became a fully-owned subsidiary of Boeing. While we operate separately, this relationship allows us to tap into Boeing’s development, testing, and certification expertise, and more.

Headquartered in Mountain View, CA with locations around the world, our vision of delivering safe, everyday flight for everyone is closer than ever to becoming reality.
