Monad Manifesto which articulated the long term vision and started the development effort which became PowerShell. Many of the elements described in this document have been delivered and those that have not provide a good roadmap for the future.


Jeffrey Snover, a creator of PowerShell, wrote the Monad Manifesto

(http://bit.ly/9uyHlY) in 2002. Monad was the code name for PowerShell.

Since then, PowerShell was first released in 2006,
updated to v2 in 2009 and included in Windows 7 and 2008 R2,
and v3 is released in 2012 and included in Windows 8 and 2012,
with more than 2,300 cmdlets ("tools" that are also reusable units of functionality)
