ZigBee @ Wikipedia ZigBee is targeted at radio-frequency (RF) applications that require a low data rate, long battery life, and secure networking. ZigBee has a defined rate of 250 kbit/s best suited for periodic or intermittent data or a single signal transmission from a sensor or input device.[1] ZigBee based traffic management system have also been implemented. The name refers to the waggle dance of honey bees after their return to the beehive.

Smart Meter

A smart meter is usually an electrical meter that records consumption of electric energy in intervals of an hour or less and communicates that information at least daily back to the utility for monitoring and billing purposes.
